Ukraine-EU industrial dialogue to take place in March

Ukraine and the European Union will hold an industrial dialogue on March 16-17, 2021.

"In a month, on March 16-17, we will have an industrial dialogue between Ukraine and the European Union," Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine - Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka said at the International Conference on Authorized Exporters on February 18, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to him, the dialogue will touch upon the industrial strategies of Ukraine and the EU, opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Ukrainian and European industrialists, as well as climate change.

Kachka noted that the introduction of the institution of authorized economic operators significantly contributed to the deepening of industrial cooperation with the EU. "This is very much in line with the industrial policy of the European Union, which concerns open strategic autonomy, reshoring or nearshoring companies, placing production chains as close as possible to the European Union. And Ukraine, which is a neighbor of the European Union, is a very good partner in industrial policy for the EU," the deputy minister said.

As Kachka noted, signing the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ACAA) is very important for Ukraine as it will mean recognition of the industrial development of our state.

As reported, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said on February 17 that Ukraine hopes to sign the ACAA with the European Union this year, which will provide ample opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses.

At the end of October last year, a preliminary EU assessment mission was launched on the readiness of Ukraine's quality infrastructure for the conclusion of the ACAA.

Earlier, the Government stated that the ACAA could potentially account for a fifth of Ukraine's exports to the EU, primarily engineering products, facilitating trade and raising the image of Ukrainian products in global markets.
