Number of nonbank market participants in Ukraine decreased in January - NBU

As of January 31, 2021, there were 73 banks and 2,006 participants in the nonbank financial services market in Ukraine, the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) reports.

The number of participants in the nonbank financial services market decreased from 2,065 to 2,006. Currently, the nonbank market consists of 190 risk insurance companies and 20 life insurance companies, 301 pawnshops (302 before), 318 credit unions (322 before), 143 leasing companies (146 before), 969 financial companies (1,020 before), and 65 insurance brokers.

There are 36 payment systems created by residents and 13 international payment systems created by non-residents in the Ukrainian payment market.

As reported, on July 1, 2020, the National Bank became the regulator of insurance, leasing, financial companies, credit unions, pawnshops and credit bureaus.
