Ukraine’s energy system to be integrated with European one in 2023 – Shmyhal

The energy system of Ukraine will be integrated with the pan-European energy system, ENTSO-E, in 2023, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said.

He said this during a public discussion of the draft National Economic Strategy until 2030 entitled "Energy Sector Development, Mining and Effective Environmental Protection" on February 4, the Government portal reports.

Shmyhal named the integration of Ukraine's energy sector with the European energy system as another priority for the government team. First of all, it concerns the integration of the United Energy System of Ukraine into ENTSO-E (the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity), which is to take place in 2023.

"We have already begun to pass the relevant tests, and the technical aspects of the integration of Ukraine's energy system with the European one should be completed in 2022. This means that in 2023 Ukraine will be a few steps closer to the EU," the PM emphasized.

In addition, the implementation of the Green Course remains a priority for Ukraine's cooperation with European partners. "This is the basis of Ukraine’s environmental policy and care for the future of our country," he added.
