Kryklii: International air travel may fully recover in 2023

International air travel may fully recover in 2023 if the situation in 2021 is predictable.

"We expect that this year, if the situation is predictable, if the vaccination program is successful and the countries open, if there are no new versions of coronavirus or new global waves of the epidemic, we will reach half the flight travel numbers of 2019. Let me remind you that 2019 was the most successful year for aviation, showing the highest passenger numbers. In 2022, we will be able to reach the three quarters [of flight travel numbers of 2019] and in 2023, according to such forecasts, we will fully restore the pre-pandemic numbers," Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

The minister noted that expectations and forecasts are constantly changing. According to him, if earlier the IATA said that the flight travel numbers would be fully restored in 2023, now they have forecasts for 2024.
