Acting energy minister: Ukraine should integrate into ENTSO-E

Acting Minister of Energy of Ukraine Yuriy Vitrenko stated that his task will be to integrate Ukraine into the ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity.

"We need to urgently disconnect from the unified power system with Belarus and Russia and to integrate into the European network. This will be one of my main tasks," Vitrenko said on the air of the Freedom of Speech TV program, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

He stressed that this step would be in the interests of Ukraine, its energy security and national security.

ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, represents 42 electricity transmission system operators (TSOs) from 35 countries across Europe. ENTSO-E was established and given legal mandates by the EU’s Third Legislative Package for the Internal Energy Market in 2009, which aims at further liberalising the gas and electricity markets in the EU.

In 2017, a memorandum was signed providing for the synchronization of the unified power system of Ukraine with ENTSO-E in 2023.
