Zelensky, Sandu sign memorandum on transport and transit potential development

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of Moldova Maia Sandu signed a memorandum on the development of transport and transit potential between the countries and the construction of a high-speed road corridor connecting Kyiv and Chisinau.

“The heads of state signed a Memorandum on the development of transport and transit potential of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. The purpose of signing the document is to strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova in the field of infrastructure development, creation of new jobs and effective use of the transit potential of both countries,” the Office of the President of Ukraine informs.

To achieve these goals, a road transport corridor between Kyiv and Chisinau will be created.

It is noted that the corridor is expected to reduce the travel time between the two cities to five-six hours, becoming the shortest route from Central Ukraine to Central and South-Eastern Europe.

Within the framework of the memorandum, the parties also declare their intention to take a number of concrete steps: international legal registration of construction of the Yampil - Koseuts bridge, coordination of efforts to prepare an investment project and a feasibility study for the development of border infrastructure and access roads on Ukraine-Moldova border, involvement of international financial organizations in the implementation of the project.
