Plan to reduce gas tariffs presented to Zelensky at meeting in President's Office

President Volodymyr Zelensky commissioned the Government to urgently resolve the issue of gas tariffs for the population.

The gas tariffs for the population were discussed at the energy meeting in the President's Office, the press service of the Head of State informs.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, Acting Minister of Energy Yuriy Vitrenko, Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko, Minister of Social Policy Maryna Lazebna, Head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak and his deputies.

"Gas tariffs for the population must be fair. The gas price is rising on the market due to weather conditions and other reasons that have occurred in Europe, and we cannot allow the price to rise for our citizens," Volodymyr Zelensky stressed.

It was announced at the meeting that the Cabinet of Ministers is preparing systemic decisions on establishing a balance in the energy market.

Yuriy Vitrenko presented a preliminary plan to significantly reduce gas tariffs and set a price that would be fair from the consumer's point of view.

The President’s Office stressed that the decisions discussed at the energy meeting also provide for maintaining macro-financial stability, developing fair competition in the market and helping to avoid financial imbalances.

Today, rallies against the increase in utility tariffs are being held in several regions of Ukraine.
