IMF mission to start review of SBA for Ukraine on December 21

The International Monetary Fund's mission will start the first review of the Stand-By Arrangement for Ukraine on December 21.

“The IMF mission will start the first review of the Stand-By Arrangement for Ukraine on December 21-23. Given the COVID pandemic, the mission will hold remote meetings with the Ukrainian authorities to discuss economic developments, and policies and reforms to underpin the completion of the review,” IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine Gosta Ljungman stated.

As noted, the mission plans to resume meetings in January 2021, after the New Year holidays.

On December 11, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine awaits the IMF mission and the allocation of the second tranche under the Stand-By Arrangement in the near future.

Earlier, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko said that Ukraine still has a chance to receive a tranche by the end of 2020 but the loan is most likely to be disbursed next year.

On June 9, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund approved an 18-month Stand-by Arrangement for Ukraine, with total funding of $5 billion. On June 12, Ukraine received the first tranche of $2.1 billion.
