Ukraine hopes to liberalize bilateral trade with Jordan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is looking forward to the liberalization of bilateral trade with Jordan.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Senik said this during the ceremony of accepting copies of credentials from Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Ukraine (with residence in Ankara) Ismail Ar-Rifai on December 10, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s press service reported.

Senik noted the importance of enhancing the political dialogue between Ukraine and Jordan and reaffirmed the desire to deepen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The deputy minister emphasized the need to liberalize bilateral trade and suggested organizing a visit of a Jordanian business mission to Kyiv in 2021 in order to establish cooperation with representatives of the Ukrainian business community.

“Ukraine is ready to take an active part in ensuring food security in Jordan and is interested in increasing the supply of high-quality and affordable agricultural products to the Jordanian market,” Senik said.

In turn, the ambassador confirmed Jordan's readiness to develop comprehensive cooperation with Ukraine, in particular in the trade, economic, military, educational and tourism spheres.

The interlocutors also discussed issues of interaction within the framework of international organizations.

As reported, in 2019, the total volume of trade in goods and services between Ukraine and Jordan amounted to USD 196.4 million. For 9 months of 2020, Ukrainian exports to the Kingdom increased by 13.4% compared to the same period in 2019 and amounted to USD 125.961 million.
