NBU keeps discount rate at 6%

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has decided not to change the discount rate and leave it at the level of 6%, NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko says.

"The Board of the National Bank has decided to keep the discount rate unchanged at 6% per annum," Shevchenko said at a briefing on Thursday, December 10.

As Ukrinform reported, the NBU Board decided to lower the discount rate to 6% on June 12, 2020.

The discount rate was reduced to 8% in April, to 10% in March, to 11% on January 31. The discount rate was regularly reduced in 2019. On April 25, 2019, for the first time in two years, the NBU lowered the discount rate by 0.5% to 17.5% per annum.
