Infrastructure Ministry planning to improve railway safety management system

The draft resolution on approving new regulations on railway safety management system has been published on the website of the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, the project envisages: the introduction of a European-style railway traffic management system; approval of methodological recommendations for building a traffic safety management system at the enterprise; introduction of obligatory procedures for hazard identification, risk assessment, determination of traffic safety measures for railway transport; introduction of mandatory training programs for staff (employees and managers) in the field of traffic safety.

The project also includes the introduction of mandatory training programs for staff (employees and managers) in the field of traffic safety; introduction of obligatory procedures for documenting traffic safety information; introduction of obligatory procedures of reporting, accounting and official investigation of transport events at railway transport enterprises; introduction of mandatory internal traffic safety audit procedures.

According to the ministry, the project is aimed at bringing the legislation of Ukraine on railway safety closer to the EU legislation. The public discussion of the project will last until December 17.
