Number of passengers using Kyiv subway dropped by 40%

Between May 25 and October 31, 2020, the Kyiv subway serviced 132.8 million passengers, compared with 214.7 million passengers recorded over the same period last year.

The Kyiv Metropolitan press service wrote this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"Now the subway is used by 40% fewer passengers than last year," reads the report.

The busiest stations of the Kyiv subway remain Akademmistechko, Lisova, and Vokzalna.

Between May 25 and October 31, 2020, 6,143.3 thousand passengers used Akademmistechko station, compared with 9,318.8 thousand passengers in the same period last year. Lisova station recorded 5,768.8 thousand passengers (8,866.0 thousand in 2019), Vokzalna station serviced 4,504.5 thousand passengers (8,658.4 thousand in 2019).

The quietest station was Dnipro. It serviced 322.6 thousand passengers over the reporting period compared with 478.6 thousand passengers recorded last year.

As Ukrinform reported, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to abandon a so-called adaptive quarantine and impose orange-level restrictions throughout the country. The government also decided to impose a three-week weekend lockdown, starting from November 14-15.

Health Minister Maksym Stepanov specified that work of transport would not stop during quarantine on weekends.
