Banks connected to BankID system cover 87% of payment card market - NBU

Banks connected to the BankID system of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) together account for 87% of the Ukrainian payment card market.

The NBU press service reported this following an online meeting with banks on the future development of the NBU's BankID System, Ukrinform reports.

“Our task is to make the BankID system available to every bank client in Ukraine. After all, the system saves time and makes life easier for Ukrainians, simplifies their access to public, commercial and financial services. We are grateful to all the banks that help to develop and scale our system,” NBU Deputy Governor Oleksii Shaban said.

After joining of some more banks that are currently being tested, the use of the system will be available to almost every Ukrainian who has a bank account. An important indicator is that the BankID system of the NBU is in demand among commercial service providers, Shaban said.

As Ukrinform reported, the National Bank launched the BankID project in 2015. The system now includes 49 participants: 22 banks and 27 non-bank institutions (including 16 commercial establishments).
