Ukraine's unrealized export potential amounted to USD 24B last year

In 2019, the unrealized potential of merchandise export of Ukraine amounted to USD 24 billion. According to the audit of the Ukrainian economy, China is the largest untapped market for Ukraine.

"With the existing commodity structure, Ukraine does not fully realize its export potential. According to the International Trade Centre (ITC), the unrealized potential of merchandise export of Ukraine in 2019 amounted to USD 24 billion. China is the largest untapped market for Ukraine. Exports to this country can be increased by USD 1.9 billion," the document says.

The main obstacle to increasing exports to China is discriminatory conditions for many Ukrainian product groups that have medium or high added value.

Among the countries with the most unrealized export potential of Ukraine are also Germany, Turkey, Italy, Poland, India and Egypt.

As Ukrinform reported, in 2019, exports of goods from Ukraine increased by 6.4% compared to 2018 and amounted to USD 46.1 billion.
