Ukraine, China interested in expanding cooperation in agricultural sector

Ukraine’s Ambassador to the People's Republic of China Serhiy Kamyshev met with Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China Zhang Taolin.

According to the Ukrainian Embassy in China, it was the first meeting at the ministry since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

The deputy minister expressed hope for further deepening of bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, which has been actively developing between Ukraine and China in recent years. In particular, the Chinese side proposed to expand cooperation between the two countries in the agro-industrial complex in terms of research, investment and trade.

The ambassador noted the growth of trade in agricultural products between the countries. In this context, he called on the Chinese side to help lift restrictions on the import of Ukrainian poultry products to China, as well as expand the Chinese market for new types of Ukrainian agricultural products.

The parties also emphasized the effectiveness of the meetings of the Sub-Commission on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture of the Commission on Cooperation between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the PRC and agreed to continue agreeing on the dates of its eighth meeting.
