G7 ambassadors call for further reform of Ukroboronprom

The ambassadors of the G7 countries urge to continue corporate governance reforms at Ukraine's state-owned company Ukroboronprom.

This was discussed during a meeting of the ambassadors with Acting Director General of Ukroboronprom Ihor Fomenko, according to a statement posted on the Twitter account of the G7 ambassadors.

"During a meeting with Ukroboronprom Acting DG Fomenko, the G7 ambassadors urged that the concern continue corporate governance reforms initiated under the previous leadership to help revitalize Ukraine's defense industry, including the implementation of an experienced, independent supervisory board. Failure to maintain this reform path would be a missed opportunity for Ukraine to align its defense sector with international standards,” the statement reads.

As Ukrinform reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Aivaras Abromavicius from the post of director general of Ukroboronprom on October 6, 2020.

By another decree, Zelensky appointed Ihor Fomenko as acting director general of Ukroboronprom.

Since August 2019, the management of the State Concern Ukroboronprom has changed by 100%, and its staff as a whole – by 36%.
