Duda outlines international prospects for new Ukraine-Poland transport corridor

The new transport corridor between Ukraine and Poland will be an essential element of the international transport network and will contribute to the development of Ukraine and Poland.

“I am convinced that Ukrainian sea and land terminals can present customers with an attractive offer for the transportation of goods within the agreed [with Warsaw] new transport corridor between Poland and Ukraine. This connection should be considered more broadly as an essential element of the international transport network with the potential to transport goods from Western Europe, Scandinavia, Turkey, and East Asia,” President of Poland Andrzej Duda said at the Ukraine-Poland Economic Forum in Odesa on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Now it is necessary to jointly elaborate the concept of the corridor, agreeing on the transport potential and financial aspects of this project, he added.

Duda stressed that Poland saw Ukraine's activity in many international transport projects.

"I want to assure you that we will support Ukraine's well-founded ambitions to play the role of an important transport hub in Eastern Europe and to make full use of its potential as a transit country," the Polish leader said.

In his speech, the President of the Republic of Poland called the formation of "bridges" between Ukraine and Poland an important task for the future through the development of infrastructure – roads, ports, border crossings, logistics terminals – that the economies of modern countries need.
