Demand for electric vehicles in Ukraine grows by 6% in nine months - Ukrautoprom

Some 5,400 electric cars were registered in Ukraine in January-September 2020, which is 6% more than in the same period last year, the Association of Ukrainian Motor Vehicles Manufacturers (Ukrautoprom) has reported.

According to the report, the share of used electric cars in the total number of registered vehicles was 92% (compared to 91% in January-September 2019) and their average age was four years.

The most popular car in this segment in Ukraine is the Nissan Leaf. Some 1,728 electric cars of this brand were bought in the first nine months of 2020. The Tesla Model 3 took second place, with 657 vehicles sold over the period.

Among the top five most popular electric cars are the Tesla Model S (612), the Fiat 500e (287), and the Tesla Model X (268).

Among new electric cars, the Hyundai Ioniq became the most popular brand in Ukraine. Some 93 such cars were sold in Ukraine in the first nine months of this year.

Some 7,542 electric cars were registered in Ukraine in 2019.
