Finance Ministry not considering scenario in which Ukraine will not receive IMF tranche

The Finance Ministry is not considering a scenario in which Ukraine will not receive a tranche from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“We are fulfilling all our obligations. I do not consider a scenario in which we will not receive an IMF tranche,” Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko said.

He recalled that the IMF mission is expected to arrive in Ukraine in October-November.

“We have partnering relationships with the IMF. In a specific life cycle of the country, namely 2020-2021, we need a partner like the IMF. At the same time, in the Finance Ministry’s strategy, we set the task to abandon the IMF financing in 2023,” Marchenko noted.

As Ukrinform reported, the Finance Ministry expects to receive two tranches from the International Monetary Fund worth $700 million each by the end of the year. In June 2020, Ukraine received $2.1 billion loan from the IMF.
