President orders drafting of bill to complete two reactors at Khmelnytskyi NPP

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to submit a bill on the location, design and construction of nuclear reactors Nos. 3 and 4 of the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant to the Verkhovna Rada within two months.

This is stated in the presidential decree of September 22, 2020 "On urgent measures to stabilize the situation in the energy sector and further development of nuclear energy," which was published on the website of the head of state.

According to the document, the government was also instructed to draw up a long-term program for the development of nuclear energy as part of the implementation of Ukraine's Energy Strategy until 2035.

In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers should take comprehensive measures to repay the debt to electricity producers, including National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom.
