Ivano-Frankivsk region needs additional UAH 350M to overcome effects of floods – governor

Ivano-Frankivsk region needs an additional UAH 350 million to restore facilities affected by the June floods.

Head of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration Vitaliy Fedoriv stated this at a brief meeting, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"In addition to those UAH 470 million [that was allocated for the region], we have requested additional funds in the amount of UAH 350 million," Fedoriv said.

He has noted that a commission of the Ministry of Regional Development will launch its work in the region to study in detail the progress of work on facilities damaged by the floods and the issue of additional funds.

"I think that after the commission checks the scale of our losses, it will agree that UAH 350 million is not enough,” Fedoriv said.

As reported, on June 22-23, heavy rains caused floods in Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Lviv and Zakarpattia regions. Hundreds of kilometers of roads, dozens of bridges were destroyed, and hundreds of people were resettled.

Prykarpattia received almost UAH 480 million from the state budget to eliminate the consequences of the June floods.
