Ukraine to increase health expenditures to 5% of GDP by 2023 – Finance Ministry

Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko has said that it will be possible to ensure health care expenditures at 5% of GDP by 2023.

"Five percent of GDP is expected to be spent on the health care sector. We will reach this by 2023. But there can be no leap from almost 3% to 5% right now, this is not real," Marchenko told reporters.

He noted that in order to ensure health care expenditures at the level of 5% of GDP, it is necessary to find an additional UAH 100 billion.

On September 18, a rally of patients was held near the Verkhovna Rada. The participants of the rally demanded that the MPs increase health spending in the state budget for 2021 up to 5% of GDP.
