Local authorities have UAH 8.5B to fight coronavirus in schools – PM

The local authorities have UAH 8.5 billion on their accounts for the purchase of everything necessary for a successful fight against coronavirus in educational institutions.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said this at a government meeting on Wednesday, September 2, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“As of yesterday, UAH 8.5 billion of educational subvention was transferred to local government bodies. These funds are on the accounts of local government and can be used for the purchase of personal protective equipment for teachers and teaching staff, as well as disinfectants and everything necessary to ensure a safe learning process,” he said.

He noted that yesterday he had the opportunity to make sure that schools comply with the recommendations of the Health Ministry and the Government in the fight against coronavirus disease.

As of September 2, Ukraine reported 125,798 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 2,495 new cases recorded over the past day.
