Wheat exports to reach 17.2M tonnes in 2020/2021 MY – Economy Ministry

According to the forecast of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, Ukraine will export 17.2 million tonnes of wheat in the 2020/2021 marketing year (MY).

"I held a weekly meeting with specialized associations, where the forecast balance of the grain market was presented. We expect wheat exports to reach 17.2 million tonnes and carry-over to amount to 1.7 million tonnes in 2020/21 MY," Deputy Economy Minister Taras Vysotsky wrote on his Facebook page following the meeting on August 10.

According to him, a meeting of the headquarters for the development of irrigation was also held, at which they agreed to submit an action plan for the development of irrigation within a month and complete the development of a bill on water users in order to submit a document for discussion in parliament in September.

Since the beginning of the 2020/2021 marketing year (MY), which started on July 1, Ukraine exported 2.5 million tonnes of grain crops and legumes, which is 36.3% less than on the same date of the 2019/2020 MY.

According to the informational and analytical portal of Ukraine’s agro-industrial complex, from July 1 to August 3, 2020, Ukraine exported 1.26 million tonnes of wheat (11.2% less than on the same date of the previous MY).
