Acting energy minister discusses hydrogen plant construction with investors

Acting Energy Minister of Ukraine Olha Buslavets discussed investments in the alternative energy sector with Andriy Zhovner, Director of H2 LLC, and Walter Komarek, CEO of Yom Capital Ltd.

“The parties discussed potential projects for the construction of data centers and a hydrogen plant to keep domestic generating capacities fully occupied. In particular, investors are interested in the southern region, where a significant surplus electricity production is observed, cooperation with National Nuclear Energy Generating Company of Ukraine "Energoatom" and Ukrhydroenergo PJSC [the largest hydro-generating company in Ukraine],” the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine informs.

As noted, the creation of new electricity consumers will help to load idle generating capacities and lessen the burden on transmission system elements.

Acting minister Buslavets expressed readiness to support promising projects.

"We [the Ministry of Energy] welcome and support innovative ideas to develop domestic energy, in particular, to increase electricity consumption. The Ministry is ready to provide the necessary support within our powers," she said.

In July 2020, the European Commission presented two energy strategies, including optimization of the existing system of energy production and consumption and the introduction of industrial production of clean and renewable energy sources based on the use of hydrogen technologies.
