Number of registered unemployed persons not growing in Ukraine

The Ministry of Economic Development, Trade, and Agriculture of Ukraine recorded a cessation of growth in the number of registered unemployed persons.

“In April 2020, 149,000 people received the unemployed status. Already 97,000 people were granted such a status in May, 75,000 people – in June, 68,000 people – in July. In total, during the coronavirus quarantine period from March 12 to July 31, more than 395,000 Ukrainian became unemployed. Since the beginning of the year, more than 370,000 citizens have been employed, including 222,000 people during the quarantine period,” the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade, and Agriculture of Ukraine informs.

In particular, 46% of all employed citizens got jobs in agriculture sector, 14% - in processing industry, 13% - in trade.

In May 2020, the Government of Ukraine began implementing a plan to overcome the unemployment caused by COVID-19 pandemic. The plan provides for creation of 500,000 vacancies in ten different sectors.
