Economic Development Ministry: Partial unemployment benefits program saves 357 thousand jobs

As of August 3, the authorities made payments through employment centers and saved the jobs of more than 357,000 Ukrainians, including 174,500 self-employed persons.

"Within the framework of the partial unemployment benefits program, employers submitted more than 215,700 thousand packages of documents to employment centers as of August 3. In particular, more than 188,000 packages were submitted by insured self-employed persons," the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade, and Agriculture of Ukraine informs.

The biggest number of applications was filed by employers in Kharkiv, Lviv, Donetsk, Sumy, and Chernivtsi regions.

UAH 1.829,9 million has already been allocated under the program.

At a meeting on July 15, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution providing for the redistribution of more than UAH 4.72 billion from the COVID-19 Response Fund to the Compulsory State Social Insurance Fund of Ukraine to support citizens who lost their jobs.

As of July 24, 2020, almost UAH 1.64 billion was allocated within the partial unemployment benefits program, making it possible to save 348,000 jobs.
