Finance Ministry reports on borrowings to state budget’ general fund in January-June 2020

In January-June 2020, borrowings to the general fund of the state budget amounted to UAH 259.5 billion, according to the Finance Ministry’s press service.

“In January-June 2020, actual government borrowings to the general fund of the state budget amounted to UAH 259.5 billion, or 99.9% of those projected for this period," reads the statement.

It notes that UAH 153.6 billion (99.9% of the target) was attracted from the placement of government domestic loan bonds to finance the state budget, including UAH 61.7 billion due to the issuance of government domestic loan bonds in foreign currency (USD 1.6 billion and EUR 0.3 billion).

Some UAH 105.8 billion (100% of the target) was attracted from external sources, including UAH 33.9 billion through the placement of 10-year Eurobonds worth EUR 1.25 billion at 4.375% per annum; UAH 1.350 billion (USD 50 million) are IBRD funds within the Social Assistance System Modernization Project in Ukraine.

In addition, UAH 55.2 billion (SDR 1.5 billion) of the IMF loan under the Stand-by-2020 program and UAH 15 billion (EUR 500 million) were received as part of the EU macro-financial assistance loan.

At the same time, public debt repayment over the reporting period amounted to UAH 156.2 billion (99.7% of the target), service payments reached UAH 61.4 billion (89.7% of the target).
