National Commission approves plan for development of gas storage facilities for next 10 years

The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) approved the Plan for the development of gas storages of the Operator of gas storages of JSC Ukrtransgaz for 2020 –2029, as well as investment program for Ukrainian underground gas storage (UGS) facilities for 2020.

The relevant resolution, No.1151, as of June 24, 2020 has been posted on the Commission’s website.

According to the document, the total amount of investments in the infrastructure of underground gas storage facilities for 2020-2029 is projected at UAH 13.5 billion (excluding VAT).

In 2020, UAH 576.9 million (excluding VAT) is envisaged for the reconstruction of underground gas storage facilities.

As Ukrinform reported, since the beginning of this year, Ukraine has pumped 4.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas into its underground gas storage facilities (+5% compared to the same period of last year). Of these, 2.2 billion cubic meters were pumped in “customs warehouse” mode, including 0.9 billion cubic meters by resident companies and 1.3 billion cubic meters by non-resident companies.

As of early June, Ukraine accumulated 18 billion cubic meters of natural gas in its underground gas storage facilities, which is 57% higher than last year.
