Government intends to reduce mortgage interest rates to 5-7% - PM Shmyhal

The Ukrainian government is working on the program to reduce mortgage interest rates to 5-7%, according to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

"Our goal is generally 5-7%, not 10%. 10% is the initial minimum target for mortgage, which is needed to start reviving the economy," Shmyhal said on Pershyi Zakhidnyi TV Channel.

According to the prime minister, financial resources will become cheaper as soon as this autumn.

As Ukrinform reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky earlier stated that he considered it possible to achieve a reduction in mortgage interest rates to 10% per annum.
