VR committee supports resolution on assessment of NBU governor’s work

The Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy supported a draft resolution of the Verkhovna Rada on the report of the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) in Parliament on the activities of the regulator.

MP from the Holos Party faction, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee Yaroslav Zhelezniak wrote about this on Facebook on Wednesday.

On June 11, members of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance began consideration of a draft resolution on the report of NBU Governor Yakiv Smolii in the Verkhovna Rada on the activities of the central bank. However, due to the lack of quorum, the committee meeting was closed, so no vote was taken on this document.

A reminder that according to the memorandum signed with the IMF, Ukraine has committed to ensure the independence of the NBU. Experts and the IMF have repeatedly noted that the banking reform of 2014-2015 is one of the most effective reforms that have been carried out in recent years in Ukraine.
