Passenger train services in western Ukraine to resume on June 4

Rail passenger transport services in western Ukraine will resume on June 4.

"High-speed trains are ready to start running. The resumption of rail passenger transport services will begin on June 1. From June 4, transportation will resume in the western region," the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine informs.

As reported, on March 12, the Government introduced the quarantine in Ukraine to counteract the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection. In particular, trading establishments were closed except groceries, pharmacies, gas stations, and banks. The operation of subway in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro, municipal, intercity, and interregional road, rail, and air transport services were suspended. On March 28, Ukraine completely closed its border for scheduled passenger services, including air services.

The first stage of easing quarantine restrictions began in Ukraine on May 11. The Cabinet of Ministers allowed some trading establishments and public service establishments to operate. The adaptive quarantine will be in force in Ukraine until June 22.

According to the schedule for the resumption of transport services in Ukraine published by the Minister of Infrastructure, urban, regional, interregional rail passenger transport services and interregional road passenger transport services will resume on June 1, while air passenger transport services will resume on June 15.
