Ukrainian Finance Ministry hopes to get IMF loan by end of May

Ukraine expects to receive a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the amount of $1.75 billion by the end of May, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko has said.

"We hope we'll be able to get the first IMF loan amounting to $1.75 billion by the end of May," Marchenko said at a briefing on Wednesday, May 13.

One of the IMF's requirements for Ukraine was the adoption of a law on the regulation of banking activity. The Verkhovna Rada supported the law on May 13.
