Shmyhal expects 10 billion dollars in aid from international partners

International financial organizations and other partners can provide more than USD 10 billion dollars to Ukraine. It depends on the results of Ukraine's negotiations with the IMF.

"Negotiations are not easy... we are at a stage close to signing a memorandum and receiving the first tranche. We hope that we will approach signing documents and receiving the first tranche by the end of May," Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said during an hour of questions to the Government in the Verkhovna Rada, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to him, the success of negotiations with the IMF will influence an opportunity to receive funds from other partners.

In total, Shmyhal hopes to receive more than USD 10 billion in financial support from various financial institutions, international financial organizations, the IMF, European structures, the EU and partner countries.

The Prime Minister expects to receive these funds to reach an economic growth of 7% next year.

"It is extremely important to move forward and receive these funds," Shmyhal stressed.

He also reported on the funds already received.

"The first funds have arrived... We have received part of an untied financial loan from Germany. The total amount of aid is UAH 1.4 billion over the past two years. We expect the next EUR 190,000 from Germany. This will be a sectoral support – to fight coronavirus and support business," PM Shmyhal noted.
