Ukrainian economy to decline by 5% in 2020 - NBU

The Ukrainian economy will decline by 5% in 2020 but will resume growth at around 4% in the coming years.

Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Yakiv Smolii said this at a briefing on Thursday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Due to lockdown restrictions, to overcome the pandemic and the global crisis, the Ukrainian economy will decline by 5% in 2020 but will resume growth at about 4% in the coming years," Smolii said.

As was reported earlier, the International Monetary Fund expects a serious drop in Ukraine's economic growth due to the coronavirus - to -7.7% in 2020.
