Ukrainian government replaces energy minister

The Cabinet of Ministers has dismissed Vitaliy Shubin as first deputy minister of energy and environmental protection, relieving him of the fulfillment of the energy minister's duties, and appointed Olha Buslavets to the post, entrusting her with corresponding responsibilities.

A draft resolution on the appointment of Olha Buslavets as minister of energy and environmental protection of Ukraine was registered in the Verkhovna Rada on March 29. The document was initiated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

However, at the request of the president, the document was withdrawn from consideration at an extraordinary parliament meeting on March 30.

Between April 11, 2005 and February 10, 2020, Buslavets served as director general of the Energy Markets Directorate of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine.
