Ukrainian business expects drop in production – NBU

Ukrainian business expects a decrease in production and sales.

First Deputy NBU Governor Kateryna Rozhkova said this in a video address concerning the economic results of the first month of quarantine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“A month of quarantine has passed, business climate has worsened. Given the forecasts of global economic deterioration, our business also expects a reduction in production and sales. This could not but affect the labor market. Unfortunately, the number of new vacancies has been reset, they are almost absent. Despite the fact that business is trying to maintain jobs and not to lay off people, unfortunately, a large number of people were left without work and lost their income," Rozhkova said.

As Ukrinform reported, according to the government’s forecast, the unemployment rate this year will be 9.4% compared to 8.1% previously forecasted, and the real wage decline will amount to 0.3%.
