Naftogaz CEO: Ukraine, US discuss how to finally cast long shadow on Nord Stream 2

Ukraine is in talks with the US and other partners to ultimately prevent Russia from constructing its Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

"The game is not over yet. The Russians will try to create their own technical capabilities in order to complete the pipeline construction," CEO of Naftogaz of Ukraine Andriy Kobolyev said while delivering a speech at the Atlantic Council in Washington D.C., an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

He noted that the Russians still had some technical capabilities to lay pipes.

"We are now discussing, including here [in the US], how to finally cast a long shadow on this project," Kobolyev emphasized.

According to him, Washington's sanctions policy on Nord Stream 2 has become "one of the most important steps" to support Ukraine's energy security.

"We hope that the U.S. Government will continue its efforts in this direction," the Naftogaz CEO said.
