Ukraine ready to hire 5,000 foreign IT professionals

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has supported the setting of quotas for the immigration of 5,000 IT professionals from abroad, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Bornyakov has reported on Facebook.

"Today [on February 26], the Cabinet of Ministers supported the setting of the quota for the immigration of 5,000 highly qualified specialists for employment in our IT companies from abroad," he said.

Bornyakov added that this would allow foreigners to obtain a permanent residence permit that will make it easier for them to live in Ukraine for the long term; they will not be required to obtain annual work permits for the use of foreigners' work; their employment is carried out on the same conditions as for Ukrainian citizens; they are not tied to specific terms of stay in Ukraine; they are not tied to a specific job or position; they have the opportunity to immigrate to Ukraine with their family; they will be able to get registered as a sole proprietor (FOP).

Bornyakov said that Ukrainian IT companies lack specialists, so the government has decided to attract foreigners.
