Imports of passenger cars to Ukraine grew by 2.4 times last year - Ukrautoprom

A total of 544,000 passenger cars were imported to Ukraine in 2019, or 2.4 times more than in 2018, the Ukrainian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Ukrautoprom) has reported.

"Last year, imports of passenger cars cost Ukraine $3.6 billion. About 544,000 cars were imported to the country for this amount, which is 2.4 times more than in 2018," the report says.

It notes that purchases of new cars increased by 28%, to 95,600, while imports of used cars grew by 2.9 times compared to 2018, to 448,400.

Japan was the largest supplier of new passenger cars to Ukraine in 2019, exporting 19,400 new cars worth $469.3 million.

The largest supplier of used cars to Ukraine in 2019 was Germany, from which Ukrainians imported 118,600 used cars worth more than $535.9 million.

In 2018, Ukraine imported 230,000 passenger cars worth more than $2 billion.
