Ukraine cuts gas consumption by 7%

In 2019, Ukraine decreased gas consumption by 7% compared to the previous year. At the same time, gas imports increased by 35%.

"In 2019, 26.4 billion cubic meters of gas were transported to Ukrainian consumers of all categories via main pipelines (Ukraine’s gas consumption indicated excluding gas volumes for engineering and manufacturing needs), down 7% compared to 2018. The overall gas consumption for engineering and manufacturing needs decreased by 8% and amounted to 3.4 billion cubic meters," the press service of JSC Ukrtransgaz reports with reference to the Ukrainian gas transmission system activity report for 2019.

At the same time, 14.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas were imported into Ukraine in 2019, up 35% compared to 2018.

Ukraine’s own gas production fell by 1%.
