Ukraine, Moldova sign gas transmission agreement

Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine LLC, Moldovatransgaz LLC and Moldovagaz JSC signed on Friday, December 27, an interconnection agreement on interaction in accordance with European rules from January 1, 2020, the Ukrainian company has reported.

"This step allows transporting gas according to European rules in both directions between Ukraine and Moldova through the points of Oleksiivka, Hrebenyky, Causeni, Ananyiv, and Lymanske. Thus, it will ultimately complete the unblocking of the Trans-Balkan gas corridor and allow consumers in Moldova to receive gas from the Ukrainian gas transmission system from January 1, 2020," the report reads.

Contracts on gas transmission via Ukraine and Moldova for cross-border consumers of both countries were also signed.

"At the end of this year, Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine has already signed interconnection agreements with Hungary, Romania and Poland. Negotiations with the Slovak operator EUSTREAM and Russia's Gazprom are ongoing," the report said.

Earlier, the long-term contract between Naftogaz of Ukraine and Gazprom, which expires on January 1, 2020, blocked cooperation between the Ukrainian GTS operator and neighboring operators.

Ukraine's National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities has finally certified Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine LLC and granted a new GTS operator a license to carry out business activities for natural gas transportation from January 1, 2020.

Earlier, JSC Ukrtransgaz increased the charter capital of LLC Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine to UAH 3.8 billion.
