Tax pressure on lowest wages should be reduced - Verlanov

Head of the Ukrainian State Tax Service Serhiy Verlanov has stated that personal income tax rates could be changed during the tax reform scheduled for the next year, the press service of the Tax Service has reported.

“Within the tax reform scheduled for the next year, initiated by the Government and supported by the Verkhovna Rada, the issue of change in personal income tax rates will be considered. Everyone understands that the scale has to be differentiated and tax pressure on the lowest wages has to be reduced,” Verlanov said.

According to the head of the tax service, there is a list of taxes that could be reduced within the tax reform. First of all, this concerns payroll taxes.

He also emphasized that the tax burden is average in Ukraine compared with other countries in the world, while the issue of tax justice should be resolved.

“There are taxpayers who do not pay taxes. Therefore, the tax burden focuses only on law-abiding companies and citizens. And our task is to ensure that everybody pays [taxes], this will help to reduce taxes,” Verlanov said.
