Deputy governor of NBU: Banking system quite resistant to various risks

First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Kateryna Rozhkova has assured that the banking system is resistant to various risks that may threaten financial stability.

"We can state that it [the banking system] is quite resistant to various risks that may threaten financial stability," Rozhkova said during the presentation of the financial stability report, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

She noted that financial stability depended not only on resilience of the banking system but also on a number of other factors: macro-financial stability, further cooperation with the International Monetary Fund and the courts associated with PrivatBank.

"In any case, the National Bank of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Finance and the Government will do everything possible to preserve financial stability and stability of the financial sector," Rozhkova said.

According to the deputy governor, the regulator is not entirely satisfied with how state-owned banks respond to the decline in National Bank's key rate as they are rather slow in decreasing the cost of resources.
