Zelensky invites Azerbaijani business to participate in privatization in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has invited Azerbaijani investors to participate in the process of privatization of enterprises in Ukraine.

He said this during a joint press conference with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"I am pleased to invite you to Ukraine, where the future privatization will open great, significant opportunities for the Azerbaijani business," Zelensky addressed potential Azerbaijani investors.

In particular, Zelensky stressed that the state interests of Ukraine and Azerbaijan are the further growth of mutual investments, including through large joint modern and future projects.

In this context, the Ukrainian president reminded that the leading Azerbaijani operator Bakcell purchased Vodafone Ukraine. According to Zelensky, this will significantly strengthen the Ukrainian telecoms market. He stressed that this case could inspire other Azerbaijani investors as well.

In addition, Zelensky has said that the anniversary of successful activities of SOCAR in Ukraine will be marked in the coming days.

"We will fully support its work on oil and gas supply, gas production in Ukraine and other mutually beneficial projects in Ukraine," he added.

The Ukrainian president has also noted that Azerbaijan's Trade House has been successfully operating in Kyiv since 2018, and that Ukraine’s Trade House in Azerbaijan will open today.

At the same time, he added that during negotiations with his Azerbaijani counterpart, they agreed to intensify cooperation of international aviation, road and rail transportation.

"Azerbaijan has been, is and will be a reliable friend of Ukraine, and I am sure that it will be a strategic partner," Zelensky stressed.

As Ukrinform reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky is on an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan on December 16-17.
