Parliament approves law on reducing pressure on business by market surveillance authorities

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has approved the law on amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding reducing pressure on businesses by market surveillance authorities.

A total of 277 MPs voted in favor of the relevant document, with at least 226 votes needed to make the decision, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

In particular, the law introduces rules aimed at reducing corruption risks in the activities of public officials during inspections, enhancing consumer protection and other public interests in case of detecting non-food products in the market that are dangerous, pose a risk and/or do not meet the established requirements.

The law also brings Ukraine’s current market surveillance legislation in line with the requirements of the EU legislation to fulfill Ukraine's obligations in the field of European integration, envisaged by the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

The law comes into force three months after its publication in the parliamentary newspaper Holos Ukrainy.
