Parliamentary committee recommends MPs to approve bill on Ukraine’s imports of pesticides

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy has recommended that MPs adopt as whole the bill No.2289 “On amendments to Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On pesticides and agrochemicals’ regarding the import of pesticides into the customs territory of Ukraine”.

The relevant report has been posted on the website of the Verkhovna Rada on November 18.

“The Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy recommends that the Verkhovna Rada adopt as basis and as whole the bill on the imports of pesticides into the customs territory,” reads the report.

It is noted that the project is aimed at improving certain provisions on the regulation of imports and use of unregistered pesticides in Ukraine, the use of residual pesticides and agrochemicals after the certificate of registration has expired, the possibility of use, storage, trade, advertising and transportation of residual pesticides within two years after the certificate of registration has expired.

The committee added that the adoption of the bill will provide Ukrainian farmers with the opportunity to use advanced plant protection technologies, increase crop yield and eliminate abuse of power by regulatory authorities during scheduled inspections to comply with legislation on plant protection.
