Amendments on referendum to be introduced to land market bill

The amendments on referendum will be introduced to the bill on Ukrainian agricultural land market.

“The amendments are introduced between first and second readings. There will be amendments concerning the referendum. I think that the parliament will solve this issue efficiently,” Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Tymofiy Mylovanov said at a briefing in the Verkhovna Rada, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

When asked whether a referendum on the land market could take place before the market is opened, the minister replied: "I think the Parliament will deal with this."

On November 13, Ukrainian lawmakers passed at first reading the bill which lifts the moratorium on agricultural land sale in Ukraine.

At the same time, President Volodymyr Zelensky suggested holding a referendum on the sale of agricultural land to foreigners.
