Government cuts 1,770 posts in State Statistics Service

Ukraine's government has decided to cut 1,770 posts in the State Statistics Service, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Dmytro Dubilet has reported on his Facebook page.

"We have made the difficult decision to cut 1,770 posts in the State Statistics Service. Some 281 real estate facilities will also be released and leased or privatized. We are doing this optimization by reducing district-level units. Given that most of the reports that companies submit to the State Statistics Service are submitted electronically, the support of these units has become inappropriate," Dubilet said.

According to him, some of the functions performed by district units will be transferred to the regional level.

In addition, the minister added, the government plans to simplify the reports submitted to the State Statistics Service and reduce their number.

Dubilet appealed to employees who will be dismissed that the Cabinet of Ministers regrets that it is compelled to do so in order to restart the Ukrainian economy. He expressed hope that these people would be able to find their place in the new economy.
