National Bank of Ukraine improves GDP growth forecast

The National Bank of Ukraine has improved its GDP growth forecast to 3.5% in 2019 and 2020 and up to 4% in 2021.

“We improved the economic growth forecast up to 3.5% for 2019 and 2020 and to 4% for 2021,” NBU Governor Yakiv Smolii said at a press conference, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to him, such indicators are determined with more stable domestic demand, increased performance in agricultural production and improved consumer sentiment.

At the same time, Smolii warned that global economic slowdown and deterioration of trade conditions would inhibit the growth of the domestic economy next year.

In July 2019, the National Bank forecasted that this year's economic growth rate in Ukraine would be at the level of 3%, and next year - 3.2%.
